The World's Best-Kept Silver Cleaning Secret

We all have that tangled and tarnished mess of silver jewelry sitting in our drawers somewhere. It's time you start wearing your silver again! This simple trick will help you get your favorite necklaces and bracelets back in rotation and look as good as new too. Best of all, you won't have to buy any expensive silver-polishing creams or gels for this helpful trick since everything you need should be already in your pantry. This trick even works for silver utensils too.

What you'll need:
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 tablespoon baking soda
  • 1 tablespoon table salt
  • 1/2 cup white vinegar
  • 1 square of tinfoil, with the shiny side up
  • Microfiber cloth

Note: Before we begin, this will only work on silvery alloy jewelry, not costume jewelry or any other type of metals.

1. Boil your water. While it's heating up, line the bottom of a bowl the your square of tinfoil, shiny side up.

2. Add your salt and baking soda to the bottom of the bowl and then slowly add the vinegar and mix everything to dissolve the salt and baking soda.

3. Add the boiling water to your bowl and then gently drop each piece of silver in the bowl. Let your jewelry sit for five minutes. The chemical reaction does all the work for you, so you won't need to scrub.

4. Carefully take each piece of jewelry out of the bowl and buff it gently with your microfiber cloth. The tarnish should come off and you should see the beautiful silver once again.
